NOIDA:
A ruckus took place at Yatharth Hospital in Kasna, Greater Noida, on Saturday night after a 33-year-old man died while undergoing a gallbladder surgery.
The incident took place post 9pm, when the family members of Moolchand Sharma, a resident of P3 sector in Kasna, were informed of his death by a team of doctors at the private hospital.
Moolchand’s family has alleged that he had no history of any medical condition and that he died due to the negligence of the doctors at Yatharth Hospital. They further alleged that a consultant and a surgeon involved in the operation were missing from the hospital. However, the police have not lodged any case yet.
“On August 31, my brother Moolchand had a regular health checkup at Yatharth Hospital. He was told that he had a gallbladder stone and it was extremely important that he schedule a surgery to get it removed. On September 1, he was admitted to the hospital around 6pm. Two doctors, a consultant and a surgeon, performed the operation,” Heera Lal, Moolchand’s brother, said.
“We were continuously asking the management about my brother’s condition, but they kept us in dark. Around 9pm, we were told that Moolchand had died on the operation table. Both the consultant and surgeon are missing from the hospital,” he added.
The family has demanded action against the two medical practitioners involved and the management as well.
“It was due to the negligence of the doctors that a simple gallbladder surgery took the life of my brother who had no history of illnesses,” Heera Lal added.
The police said that the body has been sent for an autopsy and the report is awaited. “We have taken cognizance of the complaint filed by the deceased man’s family and a first information report will be lodged as per our investigation. The autopsy report will also shed light on how Sharma died,” Aajad Singh Tomar, station house officer, Kasna police station, said.
The Yatharth Hospital management has refused to offer a statement at the moment. “We will be able to issue a statement or clarification by Monday,” a hospital representative said.
