KOCHI:
Ernakulam Lourdes Hospital, under the Archdiocese of Varapuzha, is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary with a grand celebration on December 20, 2024. This momentous occasion marks six decades of exceptional healthcare service to the people of Kerala.
In addition to the celebrations, Lourdes Hospital has made history by entering the World Book of Records through Legame’24. The hospital became the first among 152 countries to achieve this recognition by sharing a cake together, taking vows, and performing a Zumba dance – a unique and innovative feat for a hospital.
As part of the anniversary festivities, the hospital will honor 60 staff members who have served the longest in its institutions, recognizing their dedication to the hospital’s mission. In addition to this, a free blood test camp for staff members and the launch of a new health insurance scheme will be held.
In line with its commitment to social responsibility, Lourdes Hospital will also organize 60 specialized medical camps and awareness classes across various regions. Additionally, a project to plant 60 saplings within the hospital grounds will be launched to highlight the importance of environmental protection.
For 60 years, Lourdes Hospital has been at the forefront of healthcare in Kerala, providing accessible and state of the art treatments to the community. The hospital pioneered the use of indigenous robotic knee replacement surgery in India and offers a wide range of advanced medical services, including dialysis, cardiovascular and neurological treatments, organ transplants, palliative home care, diabetic treatment, pain management, allergy clinics, mental health care, and de-addiction treatments.
With 36 multi-super-specialty departments, Lourdes Hospital continues to lead in providing comprehensive care to patients. The establishment of Kristu Jayanti Hospital, Perumbilly, established in 2000 furthered healthcare for coastal communities. Lourdes College of Nursing and Lourdes Paramedical Institute have also contributed significantly to medical education and healthcare service delivery under the Archdiocese of Varapuzha.
Lourdes Hospital remains committed to providing the highest quality of care and making healthcare accessible to all, reflecting its legacy of service and innovation in Kerala.
The press meet for the 60th anniversary celebrations of Ernakulam Lourdes Hospital was conducted by Fr. George Sequeira, Director of Lourdes Group of Institutions, along with Anna Siji George, Dr. Joice Varghese, Fr. Vimal Francis, Fr. Paul Puthooran, and Titson Devassy.
