THRISSUR:
The Konathukunnu cooperative emerged as the district’s topmost seller of ‘Freedom Peda’ which Milma’s Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (ERCMPU) brought out on the occasion of this year’s Independence Day.
At a function of the union’s meeting of the presidents of the milk cooperatives, ERCMPU Chairman M.T. Jayan honoured the functionaries of the Anand-pattern cooperative society (Apcos) in Konathukunnu for selling 5,000 Freedom Peda packets. Konathukunnu is between Irinjalakuda and Kodungallur.
The second prize went to Nandipulam Apcos (near Pudukad, 3,500 packets), while Mannamangalam Apcos (near Mannuthy) finished third (2,300).
Jayan inaugurated the meeting, which was presided over by Milma Director Bhaskaran Adamkavil. Other speakers included Thara Unnikrishnan, T.N. Sathyan, Shaju Veliyan, John Theruvathu, ERCMPU Managing Director Wilson J. Puravakattu, Manager (P&I) Tomy Joseph and Thrissur Daiary Manager Sajith C.
This was followed by a discussion on current matters about the cooperatives.
