KOCHI:
Contracts awarded as part of infrastructure projects should ensure time-bound maintenance along with construction and should avoid recurring costs, said K Hari Kumar, President, Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He was speaking in support of the Finance Minister’s emphasis on infrastructure development, at the ‘Finance Minister with Kochi’ event organized by the Kochi Municipal Corporation.
He also demanded that dredging in Cochin backwaters should be made efficient and that flooding in many parts of the municipality should be avoided. He also suggested that the soil in the backwaters should be removed before the rains as the first phase of the ‘Operation Breakthrough’ project.
Hari Kumar said that in the 100-day action plan being formulated by the Cochin Chamber, each councillor should try to implement two projects which can be completed within 100 days.
