THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA), with the support of the Energy Management Centre (EMC) and the Directorate of Museums & Zoos, Thiruvananthapuram, organised an “Energy Conservation Day Signature Campaign 2019” on December 14 on the Museum premises.
The programme aimed at driving mass awareness on the importance of energy efficiency and conservation among the public. More than 200 people from different walks of life, including sports persons, engineers, officials from government and private organisations, academicians, students and youth joined the campaign. The participants signed on a large white signature wall in solidarity with energy conservation and took a pledge to protect the environment and save energy.
Dr R Harikumar, Joint Director, Energy Management Centre, Govt. of Kerala, inaugurated the campaign. Speaking at the function, he said that public awareness and public benefit campaigns play an important role in raising awareness and drawing public attention to the risks of energy consumption.
Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation messages and the pledge were prominently displayed on the large LED screen maintained by the Directorate of Museums and Zoos. Er. Subhash Babu BV, Energy Technologist, Energy Management Centre, Govt. of Kerala, cleared the doubts raised by the public regarding solar panel, star rating and the like. Er. Suresh Babu BV (Director – Energy and Green Technologies, CISSA), Dr. C. S. Ravindran (Vice-President, CISSA), Dr. C. K. Peethambaran (Director- Agriculture, CISSA) , Sairaj KP (Executive Director, BRC – CISSA) also interacted with the public.
