KOTTAYAM:
Minister for Electricity M M Mani will inaugurate the construction work of Mini Stadium Complex at Aymanam near here on February 25 at 3 pm.
The stadium has been planned as part of the Government’s policy of developing sports infrastructure across the state, giving a thrust to sporting aspirations at the grass roots.
Suresh Kurup, MLA, will preside over the function, in which Sunny Pambadi, President, District Panchayat, will be the chief guest. R Biju, Executive Engineer, Sports and Youth Affairs, will present a report on the project. Sudheer Babu, District Collector, Kottayam, and elected representatives from the area will also attend.
The Mini Stadium Complex was proposed in the 2016-17 modified budget, as one of the projects of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). The complex will come up at the 1.018 acre land of Aymanam Village Panchayat at a cost of Rs 5.17 crore. The project is part of the government’s decision to ramp up the sports infrastructure facilities in village panchayats.
An indoor stadium with two badminton courts and one volleyball court, changing rooms for men and women, office room, toilets, and locker facility will be available in the complex. KITCO Ltd will be constructing the stadium complex under the technical supervision of the Engineering Department of Sports and Youth Affairs.
