“Even though we could extensively explore space, 80% of the sea is still a mystery to us, and educational activities should have a global standard so that the tremendous potential of the Ocean can be utilized for food, medicine and ultimately for the development of mankind” said Justice C. N. Ramachandran Nair while inaugurating the Scholar-in- Residence programme under Erudite Scheme of Higher Education Council, Government of Kerala organized by Department of Marine Biology, School of Marine Sciences, Cusat at the CIFNET Auditorium.
Dr. J. Letha, Cusat Vice Chancellor opined that courses with multi disciplinary approach should be given focus while striving to attain world class status. And it is appreciable that School of Marine Science is always in the forefront in the achievements of the University. Erudite Scholar Dr. Lisa A. Levin, Director and Oliver Chair, Centre for Marine Biology and Conservation, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, USA, Dr. A. V. Raman from Andhra University, A. K. Chaudhary, Director CIFNET, Kochi, Dr. Saravanan, CMLRE, Dr. N. Chandramohanakumar, Member Syndicate, Dr. A. N. Balchand, Dean, Dr. Bijoy Nandan and Dr. Muhammed Hatha spoke at the function. Dr. Lisa A Levin, Erudite Scholar will take classes on various subjects in the ocean science area and
will have interaction with teachers and student community of the department up to 30 th March.
