Ahead of his arrival here on Monday, US President Donald Trump tweeted in Hindi, displaying his exuberance about his visit to India.
“Hum Bharat aane ke liye tatpar hai. Hum raste mein hain, kuchh hi ghanto mein hum sabse milenge (We are excited about visiting India. We are on the way; we will meet everyone in a few hours),” he tweeted on board the Presidential plane, Air Force One, a Boeing 747.
The President landed in Ahmedabad, where besides an unprecedented road show and ”Namaste Trump” event at the Motera cricket stadium, the largest in the world, have been organised in his honour. In the last one week, President Trump spoke of the visit to the US media several times and also on social media, saying that even as India had been giving the US a tough time in trade, he was visiting because he likes Prime Minister Modi a lot and considers him a very good friend.
Last night, President Trump retweeted Prime Minister Modi”s a heartwarming message for him and his two-day standalone visit to India. He earlier posted a video of his departure with Melania from Washington.
In his unique style and sense of humour, the US President even tweeted a meme account”s video-shopped ”Baahubali” song with lead actors as Donald Trump and his wife Melania, with a comment saying, “Look so forward to being with my great friends in INDIA! (sic)”
Just two weeks ago, First Lady Melania, expressed similar enthusiasm about the trip. In a tweet, she thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for the invitation, saying: “Looking forward to visiting Ahmedabad and New Delhi later this month. POTUS and I are excited for the trip and to celebrate the close ties between the USA and India.”
She was responding to Prime Minister Modi”s tweet which described their visit as a “very special one” which “will go a long way in further cementing India-USA friendship”.
