KOCHI:
Dr. Bikku Babu won the championship in popular autocross conducted by the popular vehicles and services. The minimal time taken to complete 2 rounds in the 750 track specially designed for the autocross at the CIAL ground made him the speed champion.
Dr.Bikku, who is also an international rally champion, took 131.94 seconds in the 1600 cc category and 131.10 seconds in the open category. The autocross was conducted in 7 categories with a total participation of 81 competitors. Top five contestants from each category got selected to the finals.
Afrin and Farsana, who are sisters, won first and third places in the ladies category. Sivani Prithvi from Karnataka who was participating in an autocross for the first time secured second place in the ladies category completing the ride in 165.12 seconds. Jacob came first in both 1100 cc and 1400 cc categories completing the ride in 142.17 and 135.53 seconds respectively. Sooraj who finished the ride in 143.85 seconds secured first price in the gipsy class. In the Kerala class Rohith came first completing the ride in 143.85 seconds.
The autocross was conducted in connection with the petes festival of speed, an exhibition of luxury vehicles. Francis K Paul, director of popular vehicles and services, Pramod, director of ACMS Group and Peter K Chacko, director of Petes automotive products, distributed trophies to the winners.
