The Directorate of Health Services today signed an MOU with Healthway Hospital, Old Goa to partner under the STEMI-Goa project as a PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) capable Hub to provide 24×7 angiography and angioplasty services.
The STEMI-Goa Project is Govt. of Goa’s innovation under the leadership of Minister for Health Vishwajit Rane and technical guidance of Dr. Guruprasad Naik, HOD Department of Cardiology, Goa Medical College to reduce increasing mortality from heart attacks.
After diagnosis using Tele-ECG (Tricog, Bengaluru) the patient is thrombolysed at 12 peripheral Govt. hospitals which act as Spokes or smaller hubs. Once stabilized, the patient is then referred to a PCI-capable hospital (Hub) using Cardiac/ALS ambulance of GVK-EMRI. This treatment is provided to patients free of cost.
Patients referred from Spokes of North Goa can now avail treatment at Healthway Hospital under DDSSY insurance scheme.
