CHANDIGARH:
A notice has been issued to Bollywood star and BJP MP from Gurdaspur Sunny Deol for reportedly spending around Rs 86 lakh on his Lok Sabha election campaign, an official said on Wednesday.
The notice issued by Gurdaspur District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Vipul Ujjwal asked Deol to explain his poll expenditure during the recent Lok Sabha elections. As per the EC guidelines, the official limit for poll campaign expenditure has been fixed at Rs 70 lakh.
“Every candidate who has overshot his spending limit has been asked to explain. So was Deol, as his election expenditure was found to be more than the Rs 70 lakh limit,” Ujwal told reporters.
