KOCHI:
Sahapedia, an open online encyclopaedic resource on Indian arts and culture, has extended the date of submission of entries for its fellowship programme with UNESCO till July 10.
Initially, applications for the third edition of the Sahapedia-UNESCO Fellowship (2019), which opened on May 20, had to be submitted by June 30. However, the deadline has now been extended to July 10.
The fellowship programme, supported by the Ministry of Culture, gives students, scholars and enthusiasts an opportunity to engage with and explore India’s rich cultural heritage for a span of six months. The fellowship is available to scholars with postgraduate degrees or higher. The applicants are given an option between documentation, research and a combination of the two. Depending on the category they choose, candidates may also select their deliverables.
This year, the fellowship, which carries an amount of Rs 40,000 for each awardee, has been offered in five languages: English, Hindi, Bangla, Tamil and Malayalam. Further, selected candidates working in regional languages will be offered an additional amount of up to Rs 10,000 for the purpose of translating their work.
Paving the way to widen the scope of research and documentation, the Sahapedia-UNESCO Fellowship provides researchers and scholars with a digital platform to publish their work in English or in regional languages. All material created and curated through the fellowship are uploaded to Sahapedia’s online portal.
The fellowship has, in the past, amassed a collection of quality research and documentation on interesting and lesser-known facets of Indian art, culture and heritage. For more information and submission of applications, please visit: https://www.sahapedia.org/sahapedia-unesco-fellowship-2019
