KOCHI:
The Kerala Government Medical Officers Association has put forward a complaint at Kochi Police against those who are trying to spread negative news on MR Vaccination Campaign, which is being conducted all over the country as per the instructions of the World Health Organization. The complaint demands to take action against those who are spreading false news on MR Vaccination through whatsapp and facebook. The cyber cell filed case against the complaint and has started investigation.
MR Vaccination is the world’s largest vaccination campaign conducted to wipe out Measles and Rubella diseases. The campaign has completed its first 16 days of action and is able to give vaccination to only 38% of the children in the state. Studies make it clear that the false messages spreading through whatsapp and facebook are responsible for the poor cooperation from the public. The doctors are able to give scientific and evident clarifications for the public at those places where there is poor coverage for the vaccination.
The doctors are going helpless in completely making awareness among the people for no legal actions are being taken on those who are spreading such messages which will endanger the public health system. Only 13 working days are left to complete the campaign. It is hardly possible to give vaccination to the remaining 62% children in such a short time limit.
In order to make the campaign successful, the vaccination should be given to at least 95% of the children. Those who are behind the crime are challenging the legal set up of the country. Proper legal action against them would be inevitable for the smooth working of our public health system. KGMOA reminds the parents to understand the fact and make sure that each child is getting proper vaccination.
