CUSAT-SHIMANE joint centre for Japanese language was inaugurated by Yasunavo Hattori, president of Shimane University.
A formal inauguration by a ribbon cutting was done on the proposed centre at the Savanna hostel at CUSAT campus. Yasunavo Hattori said that Shimane University is in the path of progress by entering in to MOU’s with various
universities and Institutes of Research and Higher Education. A MOU was signed with CUSAT in 2016, as a part of which two week long student exchange programme was started and around 20 students from School of Engineering, Polymer Science and Rubber Technology and Marine Science departments are in Japan as the part of the programme, and four students are scheduled to join them in February.
CUSAT- SHIMANE joint centre gains relevance, since lot of opportunities are arising in technical and non technical field, for which, knowledge of japanese language is a pre-requisite. Mikki from Shimane University will be taking classes in the centre. Vice Chancellor Dr. R. Sasidharan presided over the function. Director IRAA, Dr. K.K Saju, former Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. P.G Shankaran, Registrar Dr. S. David Peter spoke.
