KOCHI:
CUSAT School of Engineering spreads the great lesson to be comfort and care for fellow beings in their miseries and hardships. In the past week the school has given therapeutic aid worth Rupees One lakh.
The ‘Santhwanam’ scheme initiated seven years ago in CUSAT, provides therapeutic assistance to the needy patients with proceeds of donations from the collection boxes in the University and donations from teachers and students. Lakhsmi, a kidney patient in Mannoppilly, Ramani, who was seriously injured in the hand while she was in the School of Engineering canteen, were given financial assistance under the leadership of Dr George Mathew, Principal, School of Engineering.
The school has already distributed an amount of Rupees Ten Lakhs including Rs. 50, 000/- given for the flood affected, for needy people. A house was built by the school for an elderly woman Parukkuttiamma, who has worked as a part time sweeper at the University. Distribution of lunch for poor students motivated by Ernakulam district collector’s ‘Numma Oonu’ project, providing clothes for poor with the co-opration of various N.G.Os, Onappudava distribution, etc. are being organized by the school with the co-operation of Alumni.
