Cusat: Research Should be Societally Oriented, says Dr. J. Letha

Research should be oriented towards the fulfillment of societal needs said Dr. J. Letha, Cusat Vice Chancellor while inaugurating the Science Day Workshop on ‘Nurturing Entrepreneurship in the field of Biotechnology’ organized by the Biotechnology Department in Cusat.
She also said the Researcher should be trained to derive motivation to undertake socially responsible research. Dr. N. Chandramohanakumar, Member Syndicate opined that while selecting areas of research more freedom should be given to the researchers rather than imposing the interest of research guide. Dr. Baby Chakrapany, Dr. Anusha Ashokan also spoke at the function.
Lead Invent CEO Pankaj Sharma, Indriyam Biologics CEO Dr. Dileepkumar, Bionest CEO Dr. Saji George, Aeka Bio-Chemicals Pvt. Ltd. Managing Director Aardra Chandra, Dr. Christy Fernandez, National Cancer Institute USA Research Scientist Dr. Molykutty J Aryankalayil, and Bionest CEO Dr. Saji George, took classes on various topics. Above 100 students from various Universities, Colleges of the State took part in the programme.
