KOCHI:
A three day International Conference on Science and Technology (ICST 2018) funded by TEQIP Phase III organized by Division of Applied Science and Humanities, School of Engineering of Cochin University of Science and Technology has got underway here today.
Cusat Vice Chancellor Dr. J. Letha while, inaugurating the conference at Cusat Seminar Complex, said that development in science and technology should be aimed at sustainable overall development of the society and developmental activities should be such that it does not adversely affect the future generation. Dr. P. G. Sankaran, Pro Vice Chancellor presided over the function. Dr. P. S. Sreejith, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Dr. M. Radhakrishna Panicker, Principal, SOE, Dr. Sasi Gopalan, Co-ordinator and Dr. Dhanya T spoke.
Eminent academicians including Dr. C.P. Lim, Deakin University, Australia, Dr. P. Balasubramanyam, Gandhigram Rural University, Tamil Nadu, Dr. B. R. Shankar, National Institute of Technology, Surathkal led the sessions on the first day.
The conference aims to discuss various subjects like safety and reliability, sustainable technology, soft computing techniques, modeling and optimization, energy and green technology, environmental sciences in technology etc. Project poster competition and project paper competition respectively for UG/PG students are being conducted as part of the conference. Over 150 research papers on various aspects of the topic ‘Role of Science and Technology and the growth of science’ will be presented during the conference. More than 200 participants from various educational and industrial institutions in India, Australia, Srilanka, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia are participating in this three day conference, scheduled to conclude on 25 th .
