Thiruvananthapuram: Delhi is the cancer capital of India and Thiruvananthapuram ranks second in the number of cancer cases reported. Kollam in Kerala ranks fifth at the national level.
The startling revelation is the finding of a study conducted by Indian Council for Medical Research( ICMR) from 20012 to 2016. The studyb reported 15,640 cases in Thiruvananthapuram and 11,012 cases in Kollam.
Breast cancer among women and Lung cancer among men are the more prevalent types of cancer in Kerala, the study noted.
Breast cancer is the most reported type among women in in Kerala while lung cancer is more common among men.
