KOCHI:
The Diesel Electric Multiple Unit(DEMU) services, between Ernakulam Jn and Cochin Harbour Terminus (Train Nos.06303/06306 & 06035/06036) stand cancelled from 08.10.2018 due to poor patronage.
The revenue per day by way of sale of tickets is less than Rs 500/- whereas the operational cost per day for running the services comes up to Rs 30,000/- excluding maintenance and fuel charges. Due to ongoing track maintenance works in the division, it is not feasible to extend the DEMU services beyond Ernakulam Jn. Electrification of the Cochin Harbour Terminus –Ernakulam Jn section will be pursued in consultation with the Ministry of Defence.
