  • Bureaucracy is Also About Transformation, Says Former Chief Secy Sarada Muraleedharan

By NE Reporter on July 1, 2025

    THIRUVANANTHAPURM:
Bureaucracy is not about routine administration but also about transformation,” said Sarada Muraleedharan, Former Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala.

Sarada was speaking at Reflections Info Systems, a leading technology innovation services provider based in Technopark, here, as part of the ‘Inspired Talks’ series, organized by the company recently.

Recalling her journey as a bureaucrat, she said bureaucrats are given a mandate to transform and keep looking into the areas where they could bring in change. Systems will have constraints, it is for you to innovate and continuously reinvent, she added.

Answering questions from techies on her experience of heading the Kudumbashree Mission, she said the women themselves were her biggest motivators. Sarada attributed understanding and listening to the women and acting as facilitators were crucial in the success of the mission.

The key is finding beauty in what you are, breaking stereotypes, she told the audience, tracing her journey of navigating the subtle discrimination she faced as a result of dark skin.

She also dwelled upon the importance of people-to-people connect and the need to be confident of and express the person that you are, balancing with the demands of work. Responding to a question on her dancing on an occasion, she said dance is an expression of freedom and happiness and she would encourage women to dance.

Sarada also spoke about her stints at the National Rural Livelihood Mission, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, and National Institute of Fashion Technology.

Founded in 2008, Reflections Info Systems is an AI-powered innovative digital engineering company on a mission to become the trusted global technology transformation partner to the world’s best brands.
