Taking time off their busy schedules, Dr. Veena M Wariyar and Adv. Boban Vijayan led the 221st episode of ‘Arts and Medicine’ organized by the Kochi Biennale Foundation at the Government General Hospital here on Wednesday.
Dr. Veena and Adv. Boban are both residents of Ernakulam. Apart from being an advocate, Boban is also a professional singer and has sung in nine movies, including the 2016 film ‘Hallelujah’, and 20 music albums. He is still learning music under the tutelage of Edappally Ajith Kumar.
Dr. Veena is an Ayurveda physician working at Lakshmi Hospital, Thrippunithura. “Music is a passion to me and I always play relaxing music in our treatment centre, music is a good way to relax and also build rapport with the patients.” Trained in classical music under Smt. Rajeswari, Dr. Veena is a member of two music troupes, ‘MEET’ and ‘Tharang’.
‘Arts and Medicine’ is a weekly musical concert aiming to provide solace to the patients through therapeutic music and is jointly organized by the Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) and Mehboob Memorial Orchestra and sponsored by CAFS (Casino Air Caterers and Flight Services).
“I have heard inspiring feedback on the Arts and Medicine programme and it was an exhilarating feeling for me to go up on stage and perform for the patients” said Adv. Boban whose passion for music brought him to the Biennale stage.
The two creating a melodic atmosphere for the audience by singing old songs including Veena Poove from the 1973 release ‘Jeevikkan Marannupoya Sthree’, Gopike Nin Viral originally sung by S. Janaki from the 1983 movie “Kattathe Kilikoodu” and they also sang duets including the evergreen hit Chandrikayil Aliyunnu Chandrakantham from the 1968 movie “Bharyamar Sookshikkuka”.
