KOCHI:
Owners of vintage home furnishings with dear personal memories will get an opportunity to exhibit their collections along the sidelines of the sixth edition of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB-6) beginning this year-end.
The Kochi Biennale Foundation’s (KBF), which is organising the 110-day event beginning on December 12, said the idea behind the initiative was to increase public participation. The items can ideally reveal a reason why they are of unique intimacy to the owner.
The exhibition welcomes any old-world household items such as clocks, chairs, bicycles, toys, earrings, ironing boards, mirrors, fans, phones, statues, tables, cameras, radios, TVs, shoes and lamps. For those with damage, the repairs will be done free of charge on a limited basis, organisers said. The items on display will be returned after the exhibition.
Those interested can contact at 7511151906.
The KMB’s third edition (2016-17) had featured a pavilion installation at Cabral Yard near the pivotal Aspinwall House, using more than 500 saris and collected from homes across West Kochi, officials recalled.
The sixth edition of the biennale, curated by renowned contemporary artist Nikhil Chopra, will conclude on March 31. The curatorial theme is ‘For the Time of Being’.
