Payyanur: Two activists of CPM and BJP were hacked to death at Kunnaru in Payyanur, a town in the Kannur district on Monday night.
CV Dhanaraj (36) , a CPM activist was hacked in front of his family members by gang of masked assailants who barged in to his house around 10 pm. Though he was rushed to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital, he succumbed to injuries. CPM alleged that RSS activists were behind the criminal act.

This move has dealt a severe blow to Kerala’s upcoming Vizhinjam harbour project as the centre govt-sposored port at Colachel is coming up just 35 km away from Vizhinjam, thereby dimming its business potential to almost a big zero. If Colachel port becomes functional, Kerala will have one more loss making ports in its kitty, after the Vallarpadam Terminal tragedy. The Adani Group is developing the Rs 7,525-crore project in Vizhinjam.

New Delhi: Supreme Court has ruled that divorces granted by Catholic Church Courts have no legal validity.
It said that only civil courts in the country have the authority to grant divorce.
