Aster Volunteers, the global CSR arm of Aster DM Healthcare has launched nine new Mobile Medical Service units across eight Indian cities, bringing the total fleet to 45 in India and 62 globally. The mobile units were flagged off at an event held at Aster Medcity, Kochi by Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman, Aster DM Healthcare; Naseera Moopen, Alisha Moopen, Deputy Managing Director, Aster DM Healthcare India, Anoop Moopen, Director , Aster DM Healthcare and Aster leadership.
The newly launched units are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and aim to deliver essential medical and healthcare services directly to disadvantaged individuals. Each of the nine units is tailored to meet localized health challenges, delivered in collaboration with esteemed partners.
Five Mobile Medical Units have been deployed to serve street dwellers in major metro cities—Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata, and Patna—in operational partnership with “Thanal” by Daya Rehabilitation Trust and Malabar Gold & Diamonds. To support eye health in children, two dedicated Ophthalmic Screening Units have been introduced in Bengaluru and Kasaragod under the Clear Sight Project, in collaboration with the Essilor Luxottica Foundation, Aster Hospitals, and Essilor’s initiative to screen and provide spectacles to underprivileged children. Additionally, Aster Volunteers, in partnership with Aster MIMS Hospitals and in collaboration with Calicut Government Medical College, has launched two Pain & Palliative Home Care Units in Kozhikode District to provide compassionate end-of-life care to patients in need.

The Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Services (AVMMS) initiative has served over 2.3 million individuals across India, South Asian countries, the Middle East, and Africa. Each Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) is equipped with advanced medical equipment staffed by qualified professionals and supported by IoT-enabled telemedicine systems. The program is currently active in over 16 Indian states with focus on remote, tribal, and underserved communities.
In addition to the nine units already flagged off, several new and larger units are currently in the development stage for locations including Mehsana, Trivandrum, Tirupati as well as international destinations such as Uganda, Rwanda, and Chad. These units are expected to be deployed in the coming months, taking the total number of operational units to 70. Collectively, they are projected to benefit over 1 million people during the current financial year.
