KOCHI:
As we are all aware, architecture has become one of the most sought after professions in the country now with thousands of well established lady Architects also practicing.
However, so far, no attempt has been made to recognize such lady Architects who have done excellent works at different levels in the country. ASADI has taken initiatives to recognize such lady Architects who have done yeoman service to the profession. ASADI is planning to have a pan India recognition program by next year for those lady Architects who have excelled in the profession.
To begin with, in 2018, ASADI organized a grand program in Kochi to recognize eight such lady Architects from Cochin who had completed 25 commendable years in the profession. In 2019 ASADI recognized eight lady Architects from all over Kerala nominated through the IIA (Indian Institute of Architects) Centres, under IIA Kerala Chapter, who had completed 25 commendable years in the profession, These functions were held on the 8th of March, being the International Women’s Day.
This year ASADI has decided to take a step forward and honour six such lady Architects from South India, one reputed lady Architect each, nominated from IIA Karnataka Chapter, IIA Tamil Nadu Chapter, IIA Maharashtra Chapter, IIA Andhra Pradesh Chapter, IIA Telangana Chapter and IIA Kerala Chapter.. The function will be held on Sunday, the 8th of March 2020 at ASADI, Cochin.
The nominees are:
Jayashree Deshpande (Maharashtra), A Subbalakshmi (Andhra Pradesh), Renu Hasan (Telangana), Neelam Manjunath (Karnataka), Sheila Sri Prakash (Tamilnadu) and Jabeen Zacharias (Kerala).
Hibi Eden, MP, to inaugurate. Kummanam Rajasekharan, Former Governor of Mizoram, will be the guest of honour and Key Note Address by Binoy Viswam, MP.
