KOCHI: The 76th Annual Conference of the Association of Otolaryngologists of India (AOI), titled ‘AOICON 2025’, will take place from January 9 to 12 at Le Meridien Hotel, Kochi.
The conference, spanning four days, will host around 4,000 doctors from India and abroad, according to the Organizing Committee Chairman Dr. Mathew Dominic, Vice Chairman Dr. V. Muhammed Noushad, Secretary Dr. Praveen Gopinath, Treasurer Dr. K.G. Saju, and Convenor Dr. M.M. Haneesh, who shared the details during a press conference.
The official inauguration of ‘AOICON 2025’ will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 5:30 PM and will be presided over by Justice A.K. Jayasankaran Nambiar of the Kerala High Court.
The event, spread across 11 halls at Le Meridien, will feature a wide range of activities, including workshops, training programs, lectures, and panel discussions on topics such as advances in ENT surgical procedures, achievements in the field at national and international levels, challenges faced, and the use of modern technology. Classes and discussions for postgraduate students, paper presentations, finals of the ENT and Rhinology Quiz competitions, and video awards sessions will also be part of the conference.
The conference has been designed to be completely paperless, emphasizing its commitment to environmental sustainability. All necessary details, including transportation and parking arrangements, will be provided to participants through a specially developed app, Car Owner and Cart Owner (kOkO). Accommodations for participants have been arranged at various hotels in Ernakulam and nearby areas. Parking facilities have been set up with the support of the Maradu Municipality at designated vacant spaces, while delegates will be transported to the venue using Kochi Metro’s e-auto services.
Students from professional colleges across Ernakulam will serve as volunteers, offering them a valuable and enriching experience.
With more than 4,000 doctors and their families arriving in Kochi for the event, the conference is expected to provide a significant boost to Kerala’s economy and tourism industry. The Organizing Committee officials highlighted that the conference is the result of two years of meticulous planning.
