  • AirAsia Ranked World’s Best Low Cost Airline 2025 by AirlineRatings.com

By NE Reporter on February 14, 2025

    MUMBAI:
AirAsia has been recognised as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for 2025 by AirlineRatings.com (World’s Best Airlines 2025), reinforcing its leadership in delivering value-driven air travel that continues to elevate industry standards.

According to AirlineRatings.com, it thoroughly evaluates each airline based on the services and offerings available to passengers across its fleet and network. For the top 20 low-cost airlines of 2025, the highest-ranked low-cost carriers offer exceptionally low base fares and maintain an excellent route
network whilst offering a combination of affordable on-board services, such as meals, drinks, and snacks.

These airlines must also meet rigorous safety standards, including a seven-star safety rating. Since its humble beginnings in 2001 with just two aircraft flying domestic routes in Malaysia, AirAsia has revolutionised low-cost travel, flying over 800 million guests and connecting 130+ destinations through
multiple hubs across five of its operating markets including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Cambodia.

Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, attributed this achievement to the dedication of all of AirAsia’s Allstars, the airline’s relentless pursuit of innovation and excellence and the support of its guests over the years.

“Being consistently ranked among the world’s best low-cost airlines by AirlineRatings.com since 2018 shows that we’ve delivered across key metrics of safety, value, guest satisfaction, and reliability. Starting 2025 with this recognition, alongside our recent 7/7 safety rating, reinforces our drive to keep evolving, improving, and delivering the best possible experience for our guests. We thank the team at AirlineRatings for their comprehensive approach in recognising airlines that go above and beyond.

As a Group, we have made significant strides across the region by staying agile and continuously innovating to enhance our services and connectivity, all while actively managing the challenges of soaring demand and industry supply constraints. From seamless mobile check-in and real-time updates to
AI-powered personalisation and enhanced service recovery options, our efforts are aimed at delivering the most reliable yet value driven travel experience.

“Looking ahead, our focus remains on fleet expansion, boosting connectivity to both well-travelled destinations and new secondary cities, digital enhancements, and airline consolidation to meet growing travel demand. With affordability, innovation, and sustainability at the core of our strategy, we are committed to strengthening trust with all our stakeholders—our guests, employees, and partners—as we build the world’s first global low-cost network carrier.”

Sharon Petersen, CEO, Airline Ratings Pty Ltd commented: “While our World’s Safest Airlines focus on safety, the World’s Best Airlines awards are centred on passenger comfort, feedback, and product consistency across an airline’s route network. These awards are not a popularity contest; rather, each
airline is thoroughly evaluated based on what it offers passengers throughout its fleet and network.

“AirAsia’s operations stand out for their extensive flight network and destinations connecting Southeast Asia to the world and the world to Southeast Asia, offered at affordable fares. Additionally, AirAsia’s hot meals are recognised as some of the best-tasting among low-cost carriers and represent good value especially when pre-purchased at the time of booking.

In 2024, AirAsia Aviation Group carried over 63 million passengers with a strong 89% load factor, underscoring sustained demand. Fleet expansion played a key role, with the airline growing its active fleet to 205 aircraft out of 224, including the reactivation of 14 planes and the addition of ten aircraft,
enhancing efficiency and supporting network growth.
