Kochi: It is an all out fight between Comrade V S Achuthanandan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s ‘legal adviser’ M K Damodran.
The fight in the party between Achuthanandan and Pinarayi came out in the open when leading advocate M K Damodaran hinted at Achuthanandan’s attempt to prevent him from becoming the legal adviser of the CM. M K Damodaran is a known friend of Pinarayi Vijayan and a foe of Achuthanandan.
Reacting to this allegation, Achuthanandan told the media in Thiruvananthapuram that he would like to brush aside the comments of M K Damodaran with contempt.
The controversy over appointing M K Damodaran as the legal adviser to the Chief minister had forced the Kerala Government to tell the High Court that it had no such plan.
There was stiff opposition to Damodaran’s appointment from rival political parties but this is the first time the needle of suspicion was turned to someone within CPM.
Damodaran told the media that there was a concerted move by certain parties against his appointment especially after the Supreme Court turned down the plea by V S Achuthanandan in the Ice Cream Parlour Case. The LDF Government had distanced itself from Achuthanandan’s stand in the Ice Cream Parlour Case when it represented itself. The Supreme Court had told Achuthanandan that it had no time to waste.
