Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt. Ltd. recognised for CSR excellence as they won the ‘TMA -Terumo Penpol CSR Award 2018’ at a ceremony held on 21 st February at Taj Vivanta, Thiruvananthapuram.
The award was presented by Justice (Retired) P. Sathasivam, Governor of Kerala, at the inaugural session of the Annual Management Convention of TMA -Terumo Penpol. Rajesh Jha, CEO, Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt Ltd and Dr. Anil Balakrishnan CSR Head of Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt Ltd received the award.
Trivandrum Management Association (TMA), affiliated to the All India Management Association, New Delhi, honours companies carrying Corporate Social Responsibility Projects during the current financial year. The Award is to carry the message that large companies can do a lot more than offering employment and providing products or services.
Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt Ltd. is implementing the CSR activities through Adani Foundation with Adani Group’s philosophy of ‘Growth with Goodness to nurture the dream of a Young India’. Adani Foundation has initiated various programmes in healthcare, education, building community infrastructure and women empowerment in the region and were appreciated by the jury.

The initiatives of Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt Ltd. are a testament of our commitment to enable prosperity of the communities and our contribution towards nation building.”
Innovative initiatives undertaken:
Adani Foundation has introduced initiatives like providing soft skills and English speaking training for students from High Schools in Vizhinjam, along with improvement in infrastructure of schools. Smart e-learning classes have been commenced to enhance the quality of education of students from the area. In addition scholarships are also awarded to meritorious students from economically weaker sections.
Monthly open houses are conducted for the students with aptitude assessment, career goal setting and proper career guidance; enabling these students to choose their career path with confidence. Adani Foundation has made women self-reliant through formation of Self-Help Groups.
These Self-Help Groups are earning livelihood through initiatives like Hi-tech Cleaning, High- tech poultry, Tasty foods, Eco-shop unit, Data Plus unit, Big shopper unit, Laundry unit and Event management.
Adani Foundation is also upskilling the youth helping them find employment and encouraging them to become entrepreneurs. Till date, more than 2000 youth have been trained in the trades of General Duty Assistant, Assisstant Beauty Therapist, Assisstant Plumber, Fitness Trainers, Mobile Technician, AC Mechanic, Data Entry Operator, Organic Grower, Automobile Service Technician, Consignment Booking Assistant, Finance, Accounting, Entrepreneurial Modules and Digital Literacy.
Adani Foundation has constructed public sanitation facilities, constructed and renovated canals and drains, renovated and improved the Public Library Azad Smaraka Grandhashala in Vizhinjam area. Adani Foundation has set up 21 Thumboormuzhi bins having capacity to manage the waste from 3000 households in Kottappuram, Vizhinjam.
This has been done to complement the efforts of the Trivandrum Municipal Corporation towards keeping the area clean. As many as 23,732 patients have been treated through the Mobile Healthcare Unit (MHU) of Adani Foundation.
SuPoshan is the health care initiative of Adani Foundation endeavoured to curb malnutrition and anaemia among children below 5 years of age and women in the reproductive age. Sixty eight Acute Malnourished children have so far been treated and now they are in the healthy status. Further, 2300 women have been identified as being anaemic and are being administered treatment.
Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt Ltd was also proactive in disaster relief activates during the Ockhi Cyclone and even during the recent Kerala Floods. Adani Foundation took part in rescue and relief operations and also pledged financial contribution of Rs. 50 Crore for rebuilding lives in the aftermath.
