KATNI (MP):
ACC, the cement and building material company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, in collaboration with Adani Foundation, is transforming farming practices in Kharkhari near Katni. With depleting groundwater levels and unpredictable rainfall posing challenges to local farmers, the initiative introduced advanced sprinkler irrigation systems, ensuring water efficiency, reduced electricity consumption, and improved agricultural yields.
For farmers like Ramji Patel, the shift from traditional flood irrigation to a modern sprinkler system has been life changing. Registered through the AF-WCI Project, he secured a Rs. 27,457 sprinkler system, with Rs. 13,728 covered through government and project subsidies, significantly reducing his financial burden.
The new system has cut irrigation time from 8-9 hours to just 4 hours, conserving water and lowering electricity expenses – offering not just convenience but a sustainable way forward. Patel’s success has inspired many in his village to adopt this efficient irrigation method, marking a shift towards sustainable farming.
ACC and the Adani Foundation, through such initiatives, continue to empower rural communities with innovative solutions, reinforcing their commitment to sustainable development and water conservation.
