Thiruvanathapuram: V S Achuthanandan will be made happy on Thursday when the LDF Government tables a Law Amendment Bill that will remove all obstacles between him and a Cabinet Rank.
Once the law is changed, Achuthandan, the old leader of the party, will be made Chairman of the Administrative Reforms Commission with a Cabinet rank.
At present, the law forbids an MLA to hold dual posts.
Achuthanandan is being given the pompous post with a Cabinet Rank not because his post will do any good to the State of Kerala. The reasons are political and the people of Kerala will have to pay for the extra expenses incurred by the Government, even if he does not accept a salary. The whole entourage of personal staff and perks befitting a cabinet minister will be at his disposal.
