PHILADEPHIA:
Philadelphia police has arranged chess and tennis tournament for Malayali students aimed at determining the sporting ability of children at Police Athletic Centre League Centre situated at 126 East Shelter Home Avenue.
The tournament starts on July 12 and conclude on August 10. The matches starts at 9 am and ends at 4
The tournament is jointly organised by Philadelphia Police, ASAP (an organisation for training students after school) and Pampa Malayali Association.
Philadelphia Police officers will lead fun and engaging activities for youth including arts and crafts, chess and tennis instruction. The participants should be six to eighteen years old.
The tournaments helps students to interact with the police officials, mingle with other Indian students, maintain social relationship and ensure security of students. The tournament is being organised following the instruction of police commissioner.
The meeting attended by Police chief Sindya Dorsey, Suda Kartha, Alex Thomas, George Oolikkal and Philiphose Cherian decided to conduct the tournament. Parents can also participate in the tournament as volunteers.
