Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) delivered “ICGS Arush”, the seventeenth vessel in the series of twenty F
The Protocol of Delivery and Acceptance was signed between Suresh Babu NV, Director (Operations), CSL and Commanding Officer (Designate) of the vessel Cmdt. Pramod Pokhriyal. DIG T P Sadanandan, Principal Director (Materiel), Madhu S. Nair, CMD, CSL, DIG G Devanand, CGRPS (KOC) and other senior officials of ICG and CSL were present on the occasion. The vessel will be operated from the Coast Guard Station at Porbander, Gujarat.
These Fast Patrol Vessels are primarily intended for patrolling within the Exclusive Economic Zone and Coastal Patrol, carrying out anti smuggling, anti piracy and search & rescue operations, and for fisheries protection and monitoring. They also have a secondary role of providing a communication link, and escort coastal convoys, in times of hostilities and war.
Of the remaining 3 vessels to be delivered, the Builder’s sea trials of 2 vessels have been completed and the last vessel in the series BY 520 has been launched on the 29 th of Jan 2016 and is presently undergoing
outfitting works. This is a clear evidence of Cochin Shipyard’s commitment towards our nation. 16 vessels delivered have already been commissioned into the service of the Indian Coast Guard and are vigilantly guarding our great nation’s vast coastline. The actual scheduled completion of the project is Mar 2017.
