

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The 15th annual general meeting of Thenmala Ecotourism Promotion Society (TEPS) has decided to strengthen its activities and improve cooperation between various departments.
The meeting held in the state capital decided to seek a mandate from the Government for expanding its ecotourism promotion activities across the state.
Tourism Minister PA Mohamed Riyas stated that the government is actively considering increased ecotourism initiatives in Kerala. Riyas said these activities not only promote sustainable tourism but also foster a deeper appreciation for the region’s natural beauty and biodiversity. He also noted that efforts are ongoing to establish Kerala as an important hub of India’s ecotourism map.
“Ecotourism activities in Kerala have surged significantly in recent years, drawing an increasing number of nature enthusiasts from around the globe,” the Minister said. “The state’s lush landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage makes it a prime destination for travellers seeking authentic experiences.”
Tourism Director Sikha Surendran and TEPS Chief Executive Sreedhanya Suresh were present at the meeting.
The meeting also decided to submit the decision to amend the Memorandum of Association of TEPS to the government.
The meet reviewed the progress of various TEPS activities and the actions taken on the decisions of the last AGM. It approved the minutes of the previous meeting. The Chief Executive was tasked with taking steps to renew the TEPS registration.
The budget for the financial year 2025-26, along with the audited accounts of past years, was also approved at the meeting.
The Chief Executive assured the meeting that all the issues raised by its Executive members would be examined, and prompt actions taken. Those related to other departments would be communicated to the respective departments.
