  • We are Exploring Opportunities to Develop Organic, Recycled Fertilizer Products Within India: Amit Gupta

By NE Reporter on April 8, 2025

“The current market demand for recycled agricultural products and fertilizers is growing, driven by increased environmental concerns and consumer awareness about sustainable agricultural practices. At Agrifields we are exploring opportunities to develop organic and recycled fertilizer products within India which will not only reduce our reliance on non-renewable resources but also promote sustainable agricultural practices.”

Amit Gupta, CEO & Founder of Agrifields DMCC spoke about this and more in an exclusive interview with News Experts. Agrifields is a leading phosphate and fertilizer company headquartered in Dubai.

The company is a leading player in the Indian fertilizer industry, offering a range of products and services to farmers, including fertilizers, crop protection chemicals, and seeds. The company is committed to providing innovative and sustainable solutions to farmers, helping them to improve crop yields, reduce costs, and promote environmental sustainability.

News Experts: As a leading player in the fertilizer industry, can you share your perspective on the current state of recycled agriculture products and fertilizers in India? What opportunities and challenges do you see in this space?

Amit Gupta: As a responsible player in the fertilizer industry, I believe that the current state of recycled agriculture products and fertilizers in India is still in its nascent stages. While there is a growing awareness about the importance of sustainable agriculture practices, the adoption of recycled fertilizers is still limited. However, I see tremendous opportunities for growth in this space, driven by increasing environmental concerns, government initiatives, and consumer demand for eco-friendly products. e.g. the waste of crops is now being used to produce carbon rich organic fertilisers alongwith other organic manure. This is a huge boost to our soils which are carbon deficit.

News Experts: Can you walk us through Agrifields’ current product portfolio? Are you manufacturing any recycled fertilizers or agriculture products? If so, can you elaborate on these products and their benefits?

Amit Gupta: Agrifields’ current product portfolio includes a range of fertilizers, plant growth promoters, crop protection organic products, and water soluble speciality fertilisers. While we do not currently manufacture recycled fertilizers, we are exploring opportunities to diversify our product offerings to include eco-friendly and sustainable options within Inida. We believe that this will not only help us reduce our environmental footprint but also cater to the growing demand for sustainable agriculture products.

News Experts: As a responsible business leader, how does Agrifields approach sustainability in its operations and product offerings? Are there any initiatives or plans to explore recycled or organic fertilizer options in the future?

Amit Gupta: We are committed to sustainability in our operations and product offerings. We have implemented various initiatives to reduce our environmental impact, such as energy-efficient practices utilising solar power, waste recycling initiatives, and sustainable sourcing practices. We are also exploring opportunities to develop organic and recycled fertilizer products within India, which will not only reduce our reliance on non-renewable resources but also promote sustainable agriculture practices.

News Experts: What is the current market demand for recycled agriculture products and fertilizers in India? Are there any emerging trends or shifts in consumer behavior that Agrifields is responding to?

Amit Gupta: The current market demand for recycled agriculture products and fertilizers in India is growing, driven by increasing environmental concerns and consumer awareness about sustainable agriculture practices. Additionally our soils are deficient in such elements so it is the need of the hour. We are seeing a shift in consumer behavior, with more farmers and consumers seeking eco-friendly and sustainable options. At Agrifields, we are responding to this trend by exploring opportunities to support and develop sustainable and eco-friendly products.

News Experts: How do you think the Indian government can support the growth of the recycled agriculture products and fertilizers industry? Are there any regulatory changes or incentives that would encourage more companies to enter this space?

Amit Gupta: I believe that the Indian government is playing a crucial role in supporting the growth of the recycled agriculture products and fertilizers industry. The “atma-nirbhar bharat” initiative is such far reached, it is how the strong future of India is going to be defined on the global map. Due to such strong initiatives, we are seeing local innovations coming up in this space that utilise wastes to generate valuable nurtrients that can be used back into our soils. Govt initiatives such as tax incentives, subsidies, and regulatory support will promote awareness about the benefits of sustainable agriculture practices and encourage farmers to innovate thier approach and adopt eco-friendly products.

News Experts: Finally, are there any plans or innovations on the horizon for Agrifields in the realm of recycled agriculture products and fertilizers? How do you see the company contributing to a more sustainable agriculture sector in India?

Amit Gupta: We are committed to innovation and sustainability. We are exploring opportunities to develop new and innovative products that promote sustainable agriculture and looking at similar initiatives around the globe to adopt best suited practices. We are focusing on organic fertilizers, recycled fertilizers, and precision agriculture techniques. We believe that these innovations will not only help us reduce our environmental footprint but also contribute to a more sustainable agriculture sector in India.
