

AHMEDABAD:
Bose Krishnamachari, renowned artist, curator, and cultural visionary, was honored with the Lifetime Design Excellence Award 2025 at the Venus Excellence Awards, organized by Karnavati University and Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID). The prestigious award ceremony took place in the presence of esteemed members of the World Design Organization (WDO) during the sixth edition of Ahmedabad Design Week (ADW 6.0).
Receiving the award from Academy Award-winning sound artist and sculptor Resul Pookutty added a special significance to the occasion. Krishnamachari expressed his gratitude, stating:
“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition alongside such esteemed individuals. This award is not just a personal milestone but a celebration of contemporary art, design, and curatorial practice in India. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Karnavati University, the Kochi Biennale Foundation, the Kochi-Muziris Biennale team, and the entire artistic and design community for their unwavering support and inspiration.”
The event was graced by distinguished personalities from the global design landscape, including Thomas Garvey (Chair, WDO), Pradyumna Vyas, Umang Hutheesing, and Ritesh Hada. The Venus Excellence Awards celebrated innovation across various design disciplines, honoring luminaries such as Ar. N. Mahesh (Architecture, Kerala), Bose Krishnamachari (Art), Pramod Kumar Agarwal (Business), Prof. Bhiman Das (Sculpture), Vibhor Sogani (Design), Dadi Pudumjee (Puppetry), Urmila Kanoria (Philanthropy), and Lalit Das (Design).
Themed ‘Shared Signatures,’ ADW 6.0 focused on the intersections of design, technology, and sustainability. The event featured thought-provoking discussions and interactive workshops exploring upcycling, personal branding, game design as cultural storytelling, sustainable fashion, AI in design, and community-driven urban interventions. Speakers such as Nikunj Goyal, Kriti Tula, Manish Bhatt, Munwar Khan, and Kruti Shah pushed the boundaries of contemporary design discourse.
With India rapidly emerging as a key player in global design, the event reinforced the role of design in shaping cultural, social, and economic landscapes. As Krishnamachari’s journey continues to inspire young designers, artists, and curators, this award reaffirms his contributions to contemporary art, design, and curatorial excellence.
