KOZHIKODE:
Software exports from Government Cyberpark shot up to Rs 121 crore during 2023-24, marking a 15 per cent growth vis-à-vis the previous fiscal and clocking a robust 40-fold increase during the past seven years.
While IT exports during 2022-23 earned Cyberpark Rs 105 crore, the figure was Rs 2.97 crore in 2016-17.
IT exports rose steadily from Rs 3,01,71,390 in 2017-18 to Rs 8,10,97,095 the next year. The following year, the exports grew to Rs 14,76,10,856 and, then, Rs 26,16,48,299 in 2020-21. The figure for 2021-22 was Rs 55,70,13,911.
Cyberpark CEO Susanth Kurunthil said the consistent climb reflects the degree of support the performing companies receive from the IT hub. “The IT firms have their clients in the Middle East, US, Europe and East Asia which contributed in a big way,” he pointed out.
He also revealed that the pivotal seven-story Sahya building in the 42.5-acre plot of the 2009-established Cyberpark has been fully occupied.
Cyberpark General Manager Vivek Nair recalled that a recent ‘Reboot 24’ job fair (on August 17) had shown high level of competence among budding IT professionals in the state, also earning encouraging feedback. “We foresee further strides in our profile in the coming years, given that IT firms are looking forward to businesses in Malabar region following the success of the parks in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram,” he added.
Sahya, on a five-acre special economic zone with dedicated parking facility, has a built-up space of nearly three lakh square feet. Currently, it accommodates 82 companies with more than 2,200 employees. Besides, Cyberpark has 22 nascent companies incubating under Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM).
With a view to reducing the stress of the employees through fitness and entertainment, authorities opened a Cyber Sports Arena earlier this year (February 23). It consists of two football five’s turfs of 1,017 square feet each, one 2,035 sq ft football seven’s turf, a basketball turf of 640 sq ft and two badminton courts for doubles.
