  • Genrobotics Wins Social Impactor Award at Startup Conclave 2024

By NE Reporter on August 29, 2024

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Genrobotics has won the “Social Impactor of The Year 2024” Award at the Startup Conclave 2024 for its AI powered robotic gait trainer G-Gaiter.

Vimal Govind MK, the CEO of Genrobotics, received the prestigious award from Finance Minister KN Balagopal at the conclave organised by Kerala Financial Corporation (KFC) here today.

The company’s promoters, who earlier received praise from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, described the award as a testament to its vision to make robotic rehabilitation accessible to society.

Beginning as a startup, Genrobotics has received global accolades for its manhole-cleaning robot Bandicoot.

G-Gaiter empowers people who lose mobility due to stroke, spinal injury, accidents, Parkinson’s disease and similar conditions to recover faster with minimal dependency on others.

“At Genrobotics, our mission has always been to create solutions that make a meaningful impact on society,” Govind said on their social commitment being acknowledged.

“The G-Gaiter was born out of this mission, aimed at helping people with gait disabilities improve their quality of life. We’re focused on taking this mission globally, helping more people with limited mobility experience a better life.”

Afsal Muttikkal, the Regional Director of Genrobotic Medical and Mobility, said many hospitals in India have started using G-Gaiter in a short time.

Kerala’s top hospitals, such as Aster Mother, Areekode; Amrita, Kochi; KIMSHEALTH, General Hospital and SP Well Fort in Thiruvananthapuram; and Thanal Brain and Spine Medcity, Kannur, have the G-Gaiter installed.

G-Gaiter has completed over 20 lakh robotic steps and 2,400 therapy sessions for over 100 patients.

“The use of advanced technology has helped G-Gaiter significantly improve the quality of life of people suffering from gait disabilities,” he said.

“Genrobotics developed G-Gaiter robotic technology to initiate treatment early and provide patients with a better quality of life by making rehabilitation more accessible.”

Unlike traditional physiotherapy treatments that can extend over the years, the G Gaiter delivers more effective patient outcomes by incorporating AI and G-PLOT Exoskeleton technology.

This innovative technology, likened to the power of AI and VR, allows the G Gaiter to treat patients efficiently and enhance their health conditions.

At the heart of the G-Gaiter’s design lies state-of-the-art technology featuring AI-powered algorithms that optimise the repetition and intensity of precise physiological gait patterns for enhanced rehabilitation.

Its pneumatic actuators facilitate assistive movement in the hip and knee joints and passive assistance in the ankle joint.

The seamlessly integrated bodyweight support system ensures flexible mobility according to the patient’s needs, resulting in a smooth and natural walking experience.

Genrobotics, a socially conscious robotics startup, dedicated seven years to developing the G Gaiter robot. What truly distinguishes Genrobotics is its unwavering commitment to driving positive transformation within healthcare rehabilitation through robotic innovations.

The company has garnered national recognition for its significant presence in the Indian startup ecosystem, exemplified by its development of the ‘Bandicoot’ robot, which removes waste from manholes.

Looking ahead, its focus shifts to pioneering advanced robotic rehabilitation, aiming to transform rehabilitation therapies and enhance patient mobility through innovative robotic solutions.
