  • Integrated Cruise Culinary Programmes geared to Upgrade Skills

By NE Reporter on June 2, 2021

    PANAJI:
As one of the fastest-growing leisure travel sectors, cruising is expected to make a strong comeback especially in the US and Europe following the pandemic. This is welcome news to the large number of Goan youth employed onboard luxury cruise vessels.

Kamaxi College of Culinary Arts’ Integrated Cruise Culinary Programmes (ICCP) offers professionals the option to upgrade their skills in a bid to seek employment in this burgeoning industry.

Aimed at getting individuals ready for a career onboard a luxury cruise ship, the ICCP curriculum is focused on practical skills and developing confidence so that recruits can hit the ground running.

Margao based ACCLA has recently rebranded itself into KCCA. Designed by experts from the cruise industry, the ICCP Programmes in Hot Galley and Bakery & Pastry, initiated in 2013 has trained a score of students who have found employment with some of the world’s most popular cruise companies.

Said Rati Telgu, Programme Director, KCCA, “The post pandemic revival will be witnessed in phases across geographies. It is imperative that candidates seeking employment update their skill sets and prepare for the future. Those who do so will have an edge over the other candidates.”

Unlike other institutes, KCCA trains students for a specific job profile, as opposed to an all-round course offering the basics. This ensures that the student walks out of the institute ready to be employed in the position they have been trained for. The programme is spread over a year with six months of virtual or classroom training followed by six months of industrial experience.

KCCA’s cruise partners include Virgin Voyages, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Oceania Cruises, Viking Cruises, Marella Cruises, Norwegain Cruise Line and Cordelia Cruises.

Individuals between 16 and 27 years, with Class 10 educational qualification and above are eligible to join the programme.
