Dr Manu Melwyn Joy, Assistant Professor at School of Management Studies of Cochin University of Science and Technology is no longer a teacher confined to the four walls of the class room. As a trainer in gamification of learning and development, he is taking the name of CUSAT to hitherto untrodden fields, magnifying the visibility of the University internationally.
Gamification is a technique of blending academic/management activity with game techniques to make the process facile, and even a complex subject enjoyable and easily comprehensible to the receivers. In the three years since joining CUSAT as a faculty member on November 25 th , 2017, Dr Manu has already conducted more than 50 training sessions for over 2000 teachers, corporates and research scholars, and over 100 corporate representatives.
Webinar on ‘Gamification for learning and development’ conducted on 10 th November for College of Business Administration, Princess Nourah Bint AbdulRahman University, Riyadh, KSA, was his second international training session. What makes Dr Manu all the more happy is the growing acceptance of his effort among the wider academic and corporate communities for which the spirited responses of participants of the programme bear testimony.
A cancer survivor after the treatment of Dr V. P. Gangadharan, Dr Manu Melwyn Joy has also undertaken a project for developing an aap for making the cancer patients cheerful and take on the difficult moments positively, utilising the seed money CUSAT has sanctioned as a beginner in his teaching career.
