Under the visionary leadership of Pramod P. Sawant, GSIDC is helping lead the way in building quality infrastructure for the state of Goa. Currently, the corporation is in the process of building roads, bridges, hospitals, colleges, schools, libraries, stadiums, jetties, bus stands, cultural centres and market complexes and is involved in the holistic development of rural and urban spaces.
Said Dr. Pramod Sawant, MLA Sankhli Constituency and Chairman GSIDC – The first and the second floor of the Spaces building has been taken up for offices for GSIDC. All the interiors has been designed by GSIDC. From EDC House we will now shift to Patto. Next on our priority is the renovation of the Pedestrian bridge which was in a dilapidated condition.
Third is Azad Maida Square which is a historical place in Goa. It is the centre of attraction for the state. These two projects come under the AMRUT projects. Shri. Sidharth Kuncalienker, MLA Panaji has taken the initiative to renovate the Azad Maidan sqaure and will provide toilet facility and lighting. It will be completed in the next eight months.
Said Sidharth Kuncalienker, MLA Panaji and Vice- Chairman GSIDC – A total of 7 projects have been selected under the AMRUT Smart City Mission. On the special occassion of Dussera we have laid the foundation stone for the two projects under the AMRUT scheme which includes refurbishment of the existing pedestrian bridge linking Central Library near the creek and beautification and upgradation of Azad Maidan Square. All the projects will commence today. We will fastrack these projects and will complete it.
Now, as part of the convergence of the Smart City Mission and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), GSIDC has undertaken the refurbishment of the existing pedestrian bridge linking Central Library and the creek.In an effort to make the bridge disabled-friendly, the steps will be eliminated. All the utilities will be relocated from the bridge slab and placed below it, making the space available for pedestrians much
wider. The existing minor structural problems will be repaired, ensuringlongevity of the bridge.
GSIDC has also undertaken the beautification and upg
radation of Azad Maidan Square. The scope of work includes repairing elements around the monument that may be damaged including the steps, compound wall, etc,as well as repairing of the monument wherever required. Additionaly, the urinals will be demolished and a new toilet block will be constructed.The area surrounding the monuments will be landscaped and hardscaped as well.
