NEW DELHI:
Observing World Cancer Day, Helo, India’s leading regional social media platform has partnered with Indian Cancer Society (ICS) to launch #CancerMuktIndia campaign, designed to spread awareness around Cancer.
Under this partnership, ICS has joined forces with Helo to share relevant information around the ailment and its symptoms, diagnosis and treatment in two regional languages, Hindi and Marathi that have a huge user base on the platform.
According to The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), which organises World Cancer Day each year, more than one-third of cancer cases can be prevented and another third can be cured if detected early and treated properly. This partnership is aligned with UICC’s mission and “I am and I will” theme this year, as it aims at producing important content that could help reduce the cancer burden and promote greater equity. With ICS’s support, Helo will also host a series of user engagement in-app activities such as multiple choice quizzes, notifications, splash screens etc around various themes like preventive measures, healthy lifestyle, symptoms, early detection etc. These activities will help break multiple misconceptions about Cancer and promote awareness amongst the 50 million monthly active users on Helo.
Making it even more personalized for the regional language speaking users, ICS will create and promote awareness content, under the main hashtag #CancerMuktIndia and sub hashtags #CancerMuktDelhi and #CancerMuktMaharashtra from its two official accounts on the platform.
Further emphasizing the value of this crucial partnership, Shyamanga Barooah, Head of Content Operations, Helo said “#CancerMuktIndia campaign is one of the many Helo Care projects that Helo has undertaken in the past. We feel honored to have partnered with the Indian Cancer Society to promote lifesaving awareness around this ailment on World Cancer Day, when discussion surrounding the disease is even more important. We are committed to the safety and welfare of our users and their loved ones, and will continue to initiate such knowledge-sharing campaigns that add value to their lives.”
“It is encouraging to see social media platforms like Helo in their earnest efforts to partner with us in spreading awareness around Cancer. We will disseminate important information about the ailment through our official Helo handle starting today on the World Cancer Day. It is our endeavour to support, protect and save as many lives as part of our efforts to make India a ‘CancerMukt’ nation.” said Renuka Prasad, hon Secretary, Indian Cancer Society -Delhi, from the Indian Cancer Society.
As a part of the collaboration, ICS will also invite various influencers and cancer survivors on Helo to share their experiences, setting a classic example of motivation and inspiration amongst users. This campaign will run on the Helo app on World Cancer Day, 4th February 2020 for one full day. ICS will also host ‘Survivors’ Day’, with cancer survivors and Helo creators on 6th February, 2020 at Select City Walk District Centre Saket, New Delhi between 3pm- 5pm, with the theme – Let’s Celebrate Life together!
