“If you have the determination and commitment, you will be able to eliminate all plastic waste in Kerala in one day”, said Indonesian environmental activist Isabel Wijsen.
Isabel was speaking at the closing ceremony of the national conference organized by CUSAT School Engineering Indian Green Building Student Chapter and Bring Back Green, NGO at CUSAT.
“In Indonesia, 45000 people cleaned 110 tons of plastic waste in 325 areas in a single day. After being ordered to ban plastic bags, it took them six years to get rid of the plastic”, she added. Isabel Wijsen hoped that the youth of Kerala would be able to effect the plastic ban by the Government of Kerala. More than 500 delegates participated. The organizers declared that they are taking up ‘Bye Bye Plastic’ challenge.
