  • Work Travel Repeat!

By NE Reporter on May 31, 2019

There has been a shift in the concept of how the new generation works and travels. For many, travelling is a break from the everyday grind, an excuse to disconnect from the continuous hustle and bustle, and a means to rejuvenate themselves. But how do you balance work and travel?

Jimeet Ved is a full-time working professional but he travels all the time. With over 25 countries down and a month-long vacation every year, his life is packed with joyous journeys to beautiful destinations. Through his journey, he has mastered the art of using those long weekends aptly!

If you are a working professional but you are also a travel freak and love to travel, Jimeet has certain tips that can come in handy while balancing both work and travel in a budget friendly way:

    Flights:
    · Be flexible and don’t stick to dates
    · Consider layovers as an opportunity to explore a new city/country and save on cost too.
    · Save on luggage cost and travel with a backpack. The airline has only cabin baggage fares. Can save approx 4K one way.

    Food:
    · Learn to cook basic things and get a hostel which probably has a kitchen
    · Buy your grocery post 8 pm. They have almost 50% off for fresh food items
    · Look out for card deals in the country. For example MasterCard had 50% off on food deals @ Singapore

    Work and travel
    · Look out for long weekends at the start of each year
. Check out all public holidays and map them to weekends

Things to see and what to do
    · Check for tourist cards which combine multiple attractions on a fee
    · Get your hostel/hotel in line with the attractions. Time is money. Don’t stay far off and waste time commuting
    · Go with free tours in the new city

    Insurance
    · Always get insured
    · Buy the policy for 3-5 days extra than your intended date of return. Helps in case of events/cancellations on the last day

    Hostels
    · Don’t trust reviews. Do your checks. See what customer says who have stayed
    · Always read Terms & Conditions
o Helps if they have any additional taxes on arrival
o Extra charge for a certain service
    o Timings
