NEW DELHI:
The Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked the Delhi government to file its response on a plea seeking directions on the uniformity of services charged by private nursing homes and hospitals in the National Capital Territory.
A bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani asked the Delhi government to file a response on the plea by the Legal Forum for Women Empowerment.
The Forum’s advocate Payal Bahl urged the court to direct the Directorate of Health Services to develop offline and online mechanism for the public complaint and grievance system against the malpractice by private nursing homes and hospitals.
The counsel also requested the court to issue direction to the Directorate General of Health Services to conduct regular audits of the health services and the prices charged.
“It is really shocking and surprising that some important information is not being maintained by the Directorate General of Health Services about constituting a complaint mechanism to register the complaint of the people of the state,” the plea said.
