IIM Kozhikode is hosting an International Conference on Global Health and Medical Tourism (GIoHMT) on March 7-10, 2019. The institute has further announced that the tourism department of government of Kerala and MVR Cancer Centre & Research Institute will be associates. In addition to this, IIM Kozhikode has also partnered with Arya Vaidya Sala based in Kottakkal, Kerala. GloHMT is being co-hosted by IIM Kozhikode and IIHMR Jaipur.
MVR Cancer Centre & Research Institute is one of the leading facilities in Kerala that provides advanced cancer treatment facility at affordable costs. MVR Cancer Centre and Research Institute has 30+ cancer-related departments to provide intense cancer care in a 300-bed facility. The main divisions for treatment include medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology and nuclear medicine.
Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal, (AVS) is an 114 years old Charitable Institution engaged in the practice and propagation of Ayurveda, the ancient health care science of India. AVS offers classical Ayurvedic medicines and authentic Ayurvedic treatments and therapies to patients from all over India and abroad.
The Global Health and Medical Tourism conference aims at creating a platform for industry and academia to interact, deliberate and create knowledge resources that will be useful to all stakeholders as well as will contribute to the growth in the sector.
The first phase of the conference will be held at IIM Kozhikode campus from March 7- 10, 2019 and the second phase of the global health conference is set to be held at Indian Institute of Health Management Research university in Jaipur from March 11-13, 2019 will witness various sessions and panel discussions on related topics along with a visit to the cultural village located in Jaipur.
Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode stated that management education is not just limited to corporate houses. Today’s health facilities are state-of-the-art concepts and are to be managed effectively for wider reach and inclusive growth. He added that this conference is a bridge between global health and medical tourism on one hand and these two areas and management education on the other. IIM Kozhikode plans to offer leadership and soft skills courses in full swing in the health and medical tourism sector, and this conference is just a beginning.
Terming it a major landmark, Prof. Deepa Sethi, GloHMT Conference Chair said that this conference is bringing international and national experts in a single event to share insights on global health and medical tourism. She added that the conference is being widely welcomed.
