Career Expo 2019, the biggest of such an event in Kerala, jointly organized by Kerala State Youth Commission, Kerala State Youth Welfare Board and Cochin University of Science and Technology was inaugurated by Dr. R Sasidharan, Vice Chancellor, CUSAT at School of Engineering Auditorium.
“Just as a major portion of Indian population is young, the unemployment is also high in the country, and in this circumstance, the Career Expo has an important role in helping the youth for obtaining better career opportunities. Career Expos are useful for both recruiting companies and job seekers”, he added. “The acceptance of the Career expo has been more than expected”, said Chintha Jerome, Chairperson, Kerala State Youth Commission, in her key note address.
“The job opportunities in private sector is equally important as the opportunities in public sector”, said P Biju, Vice Chairman of the Kerala State Youth Welfare Board who presided over the function. “Career Expo 2019” being conducted at School of Engineering, CUSAT is the biggest career expo organized in Kerala. More than 18000 candidates have registered for the expo. Organizers are expecting more than 12000 candidates to attend the selection process”, said organizers in the press conference.
126 companies have registered for the expo and 98 of them are from non-technical side. It is expected by the organizers that 500 candidates can be appointed in the first round of interviews. The candidates are given an opportunity to attend a career potential test through a mobile application free of cost . The organizers declared in the press meet that career expo would be organized in the coming years also.
