Rio de Janeiro: Ranked No 10 in the world, P.V. Sindhu beat Japan’s rising badminton, World No 5 Nozomi Okuhara, 21-19, 21-10 to reach the singles final in Rio Olympics on Thursday.
Entering the women’s singles final has ensured her a silver, and gold medal a possiblity.
Sindhu will play against Carolina Marin, the world champion from Spain. Sindhu has a 3-4 win-loss record against Carolina.
Sindhu’s aim is to join the team of shooter Abhinav Bindra who is India’s sole individual Olympic gold-medallist.
