The government has approved a Multi Modal Transport Hub (MMTH) in Greater Noida, that would provide world class passenger movement facilities for the growing population of the National Capital Region (NCR), Narendra Bhooshan, Managing Director of IITGNL said here.
Sharing recent progress of DMIC Smart Cities and other Projects with investment promotion agencies, Bhooshan said ‘’an investment of Rs 4,304 crore has been approved by NICDIT,’’. NICDIT is an apex body under the administrative control of DIPP, Commerce Ministry for the development of industrial corridors including DMIC.
The project SPV—DMIC—IITGNL would be the nodal agency. About 80 % of the land for the project has been acquired already. Elaborating further, he said there would be an inter-state Bus Terminal (ISBT) and Local Bus Terminal (LBT) with bus bays. The SPV will also set up an Indian railway passenger station, Bhooshan added.
‘’We are looking for investment partners by next year as all the approvals are ready. For the proposed Jewar airport, an RFP will be out soon which will be built over 1350 Hectares with one runway and passenger handling capacity of 65-70 million in phase-one’’, Bhooshan said. He said that the SPV is expecting Rs 10,000 crore of investment to be driven by the airport in the region.
To be developed alongwith, would be an integrated multi-modal logistics hub known as ‘Freight Village’ at Nangal Chaudhary in Haryana under also under the DMIC. The trunk infrastructure components include roads and services, building complex, water, sewage and common effluent treatment plant. The development of the Freight Village in Haryana will be on a 886.78 acres of land plot which will be implemented by the project Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) in two phases, Bhooshan said.
The Freight Village will be connected through Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) at Dabla, which is at a distance of approximately 10 kms. This logistics hub integrated with the DFC would have high speed connectivity to key ports and industrial Centres, lower cost of supplying goods, real time freight tracking and data analysis, last mile gateway port connectivity from the hinterland and other advantages.
