Kottayam: Kerala Congress(M) leader K M Mani suffered a setback today with two prominent leaders representing a decisive force in the party pointing out the political blunder committed by him.
They said that Mani’s decision to maintain an equi-distance from the political fronts in Kerala did not make sense in the current political scenario.
Party supremo Mani was put in his place first by Mons Joseph, a prominent leader of the Joseph faction in Kerala Congress. Mons had said that maintaining ties with a political alliance was essential. In fact, Mons was alluding to the party’s alliance with the Congress-led UDF.
P J Joseph, leader of the Joseph faction which merged with Kerala Congress supported the view of Mons Joseph, while talking to the media in Idukki, today.
The move by a group led by K M Mani to take pro-Christian Kerala Congress to the camp of Pro-Hindu BJP Alliance at the national level is being viewed with consternation by a major chunk of party workers and most of the Syrian Catholic Bishops in Kerala. It is evident that K M Mani and son Jose K Mani may find themselves at the receiving end in the coming days.
It may be noted that K M Mani was accused of big scale corruption during his tenure as finance minister in the UDF ministry which was routed in the elections.
